- Create a headline for an article about the SCC Advertising Program targeted to local graduating high school students. I am specifically not telling you what to do or the questions that need to be asked. Please provide the following:
- Provide the headline
“Start Your Creative Career Today: Become a Marketing Expert in Just 3 Years with SCC Advertising Program”
- Provide an overview of the elements missing in the instructions required for this task.
One giant element missing that is extremely crucial is the target audience. Typically, post-secondary programs are targeted at graduating high school students; however, there is no specific mention of the age range, demographics, or psychographics to target, which is an essential element I learned in class. Knowing the target audience is key to crafting a headline that resonates and attracts the right people.
Additionally, the instructions are missing what makes the SCC Advertising Program unique. It does not specify what the key selling point of the program is that I should be trying to promote the most. Is it hands-on experience, job placement, industry connections, diverse course ranges, etc.? Identifying the strongest selling point would make the headline much more persuasive, as I learned in class that a clear, compelling benefit is key to grabbing attention.
These instructions are also missing an exact call to action on what they want the reader to do next. To make the headline most effective, there should be a clear call to action for what the reader should do. Should they apply immediately, attend an open house, visit the website, etc.? A clear next step is extremely important to grab the attention of the reader and increase engagement, which is something I learned is crucial in digital content.
